Digital Activism

I ran across this blog post, Power to the Digital People, on my Google Reader and thought I’d share it with ya’ll. It’s a fascinating overview of different strains of online activism, and the post also analyzes the pros and cons of digital activism.

Did you know there is an app for navigating across the border? Or for crowdsourcing information about police brutality? I’m pretty blown away by these new media approaches to immigration and racism.

While it’s easy to applaud how digital activism is evolving past online petitions and facebook memes, I have to stop and ask: what are we losing in the process?
